Product council Attends the 2020 Medical Device + Manufacturing Show

The medical device industry is expected to exceed $200 billion by 2025. An aging population increased prevalence toward chronic diseases, and advancements in technology will drive this growth. Product council attended the recent three-day MD&M West show, which serves as a vehicle for professionals to interact, be inspired, and overcome challenges. The world's largest medical design and manufacturing event also showcased an impressive range of products and featured the latest in 3D printing and smart manufacturing.

Highlight

Product council met up with ADDIFAB at MD+M, the Danish manufacturer of Freeform Injection Molding, [FIM] that allows for mass customization of parts. FIM is a three-stepped process.

1. 3D printing of single-use mold

2. Conventional injection molding

3. Removal of the mold material

With roots in medical and hearing-aid industries, ADDIFAB has a deep understanding of how to manufacture products with high levels of accuracy and flexibility which leapfrogs conventional prototyping. FIM means faster prototyping, continuous iterations, increased design freedom, and access to Injection Molding materials from day one. Currently, FIM benefits the following:

• In prototyping

• Low-volume production

• One of a kind production

• Personalization
